POWER SERIES Mark XX-B

PRODUCTION CHANGES (dates are approximate)

1980: Early Mark XXs had rosewood (yes, real wood!) switch tips and knobs.

1981: Mark XXs from 1981-1983 had black anodized aluminum knobs and switch tips. These knobs and switch tips are not shared with any guitar manufacture outside of Daion – they are unique!

1983: The footprint of the bridge bass plate grew slightly to incorporate an engraved “Daion” script logo. There was a “Daion” sticker on the fretboard placed between the 19th and 20th fret starting late 1983. Being a sticker on the fretboard, most didn’t last the tolls of time.

1984: Knobs changed to orange-tinted plastic knobs (with numbers 0-10) as well as plastic switch tips. The brass inlaid “Y” lyre on the headstock was replaced with a gold Daion script.

At the end of production, the Daion script logo was appearing on the bridge base plate, the headstock, and on a sticker on the fretboard. You’d have to think the intent was to push brand recognition to consumers. Until 1983, “Daion” had only appeared on the back of the headstock.

SPECIFICATIONS

Two pickups in a “P/J” setup – split coil neck and single 8 pole pickup for the bridge. Three way pickup selector. Two volume and two tone knobs.

9-piece Maple and Rosewood through neck construction, two octave (24 fret) Ebony fingerboard with brass position markers and ivory colored celluloid binding.

Colors: Tinted Tan (TAN), Wine Red (WR), Brown (BR), Black (BL), Dark Green (GR)

TAN was an Ash body with Rosewood lamination, all other colors were Maple lamination

Could be special ordered as Fretless (FL), the vast majority were Fretted (R)
