Standard Series JLP (Les Paul)

JooDee Standard Series JLP (Les Paul)

The JooDee Standard Series JLP (Les Paul) had a single model, the JLP-36. According to the catalog image below, the JLP-36 came in four colors: (TB) Tobacco Sunburst, (CS) Cherry Sunburst, (YS) Yellow Sunburst, and (B) Black.

How does the JooDee Standard Series differ from the Artist Series? Quick visual giveaways are the label on the truss rod cover (“Artist” versus “Standard”), the Artist Series looks to have a three-piece maple neck and upgraded tuners. The tuners on the Standard Series are a lower cost design and have plastic ivory colored buttons whereas the Artist Series has upgraded tuners with metal buttons. The catalog picture below shows a gold hat style knob rather than speed knobs that we see on the Artist Series. The catalog below does state that the Standard Series has the same 18* headstock as the Artist Series. Lastly in the catalog image below, unlike the Artist Series, there is an absence of the word “solid” when describing the maple top and mahogany back body construction.

Period pricing in Japan was ¥36,000 for the JLP-36.
