Performer Series YJB (Jazz Bass)
The Performer Series YJB (Jazz Bass) comes in three models: 500, 600, and 800. The 1978 Yamaki Price List calls the YPB-800 a “Pro Model.”

Construction
The Yamaki Performer Catalog lists a “solid white Ash” body for the 800 and 600, and a “white ash” body for the 500. The 800 and 600 have “best quality” machine heads and the 450 “quality” machine heads. The YPB-800 had twin Mighty Mite 1600 pickups installed while the 600 and 500 used Yamaki pickups. All models have a solid one piece bolt-on maple neck with the E.R.S (Epochal Rod System) truss rod.
Options
A “turtle shell pattern” pickguard was an option on the YJB-800 while the black pickguard was standard across the model range. You could have the YJB in a gloss or Matte (M) finish. A Rosewood Neck (/RN) was available on all models, and the YPB-600 and 800 could be ordered fretless (/FL)
Period pricing in Japan was ¥80,000 for the YJB-800, ¥60,000 for the YJB-600, and ¥50,000 for the YJB-500.
